Q Is there a way to force QuickTime for Windows to use GDI?

A Yes. Change the video parameter in the QTW.INI file, as shown below:

    [Video]
    Optimize = bmp

; or
    [Video]
    Optimize = dib

In some cases, the installation actually sets this value, as in the case of the current installer program installing QuickTime for Windows in an NT environment.
